Thea Clark, Green Comma, 2008
Crocus, daffodils, blossoms are bursting forth. When these little things breakthrough, it has to be Spring, you have to feel hopeful. I love being a replanted east coaster. San Francisco has it's own marvels, but seasons isn't one of them. So today I had a surprise that seemed just like a hopeful new sprout. The appropriately named "Green Comma" brooch was selected by the wonderful jewelry artist Dorothy Hogg from the flickr group "Find Make Wear", to be included on a permanent page on the Victoria & Albert Museum's website.

I love this brooch. It actually looks very 'New Zealand' too - like a curled up new fern frond ready to open up.
